BOARD MINUTES

TOWN OF COLUMBIA

REGULAR TOWN BOARD MEETING

December 20, 2007

 

The Town of Columbia Town Board held a regular monthly meeting December 20, 2007, at the town building.

 

MEMBERS PRESENT: Supervisor Weiss, Councilmen Clark, Jones, Keeler, Teletnick.

MEMBERS ABSENT: None

OTHERS PRESENT: Pat Woytowich, Clerk; John Murtha, Planning Board Chr.; 21 residents of the town

 

Supervisor Weiss called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. and asked Bill Keeler to lead in saying the Pledge of Allegiance.

A motion was made by Councilman Keeler, seconded by Councilman Teletnick, to accept the minutes of 11/8/07.  John Clark commented on clarification and Mary Jones commented on contents.

  VOTE: Councilman Teletnick, Keeler and Weiss voted aye.

   Clark and Jones voted nay.

 

A motion was made by Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Keeler, to accept the Supervisor and Town Clerk monthly reports.

  VOTE:  All members voted aye.

 

BILLS:  The Board audited the monthly bills.  A motion was made by Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Keeler, to accept the following bills:

General Fund, #192 - #220 for $23,122.80

Highway, Item 1, #28 - #29 for $9,985.07

Highway, Item 3, #91 - #102 for $2,840.38

Highway, Item 4, #59 - #66 for $17,341.85

Petrie Brown, #2 for $171.00

  VOTE: All members voted aye.

 

DEPARTMENT REPORTS:

-PLANNING BOARD:

Ø              Minutes of Planning Board 11/14/07 meeting distributed

Ø              Minutes of Zoning Board of Appeals meeting 10/25/07

Ø              John Murtha stated that the Planning Board is finished reviewing/revising the Comprehensive Plan and it is now up to the Town Board.

 

CORRESPONDENCE: The Clerk distributed information to board members from the Association of Towns regarding upcoming training events.

 

OLD BUSINESS: Mary Jones stated that she sent 11 letters to businesses regarding web-site.

 

NEW BUSINESS: A motion was made by Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Keeler to adopt the following resolution #07-11: RESOLVED: The Town of Columbia Town Board hereby authorizes the Supervisor to make the following budget transfers:

Highway:

From DA-5110.4 $4,000.00

DA-5142.4 $5,000.00

DA-5130.2 $3,000.00

for a total of $12,000.00 to DA-5142.1

General:

$385.48 from A-1990.4 to:

A-1410.4 $10.30

A-3310.4 $85.46

A-5010.4 161.64

A-8010.41 13.22

A-9060.8 114.86

VOTE: Clark, aye; Jones, aye; Keeler, aye; Teletnick, aye; Weiss, aye

 

BOARD DISCUSSION: A lengthy discussion regarding the termination of 2 highway department employees.  John Clark and Mary Jones each read a statement (on file).  Supervisor Weiss stated that the Highway Superintendent is in charge of the highway employees, not the town board.

 

INPUT:  The Board received input from those attending.

 

A motion was made by Councilman Keeler, seconded by Supervisor Weiss, to adjourn.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:27 P.M.
