BOARD MINUTES

TOWN OF COLUMBIA

PUBLIC HEARING, July 10, 2008

 

       The Town of Columbia Town Board held a public hearing on the comprehensive plan revised by the planning board on July 10, 2008 at the town building. 

MEMBERS PRESENT: Supervisor Weiss, Councilmen Keeler, Lynch,                        Tripolone and Teletnick.

Supervisor Weiss called the public hearing to order at 7:00 p.m.

A motion was made by Supervisor Weiss, seconded by Councilman Keeler, to appoint Melissa Tripolone to record minutes of tonight’s meetings. 

  VOTE:  All members voted aye.

 

Pledge of Allegiance.

Legal notice for the public hearing was published in the Evening Telegram on July 3, 2008.

The hearing was open for public discussion/comments. Question regarding acreage requirement was explained by Councilman Teletnick

With no further comments, at 7:13 p.m. the hearing was closed.

 

REGULAR TOWN BOARD MEETING

    JULY 10, 2008      

 

The Town of Columbia Town Board held a regular monthly meeting July 10, 2008, at the town building.

   

MEMBERS PRESENT: Supervisor Weiss, Councilmen Keeler, Lynch,                        Tripolone and Teletnick.

 

MEMBERS ABSENT: None

 

OTHERS PRESENT: Highway Supt., Aaron Smithson; 3 residents of the            town

 

Supervisor Weiss called the meeting to order at 7:14 P.M.

A motion was made by Councilman Teletnick, seconded by Councilman Keeler, to accept the minutes of June 12th.

  VOTE:  All members voted aye.

 

A motion was made by Councilman Keeler, seconded by Councilman Lynch, to accept the Supervisor and Town Clerk monthly reports.

  VOTE:  All members voted aye.

 

BILLS:  The Board audited the monthly bills.  A motion was made by Councilwoman Tripolone, seconded by Councilman Keeler, to accept the following bills:

General Fund, #101 - #111 for $ 6,022.54

Trust & Agency, #7 for $347.13

Highway, Item 1, #13 - #14 for $ 3,854.40

Highway, Item 3, #52 - #62 for $ 20,474.23

Highway, Item 4, #38 - #41 for $ 5,674.28

  VOTE: All members voted aye.

 

DEPARTMENT REPORTS:

-HIGHWAY: Aaron reported that

 Highway dept. was on vacation 1st week of July

 Eberline Rd. – oil & stone on Monday

 Seckner Rd. – will begin prep work next week for cold paving

Mowing roads/painting overhead doors

 

-ZONING OFFICER: Mitch presented written list of zoning permits issued. Through June 16th, 9 applications for 2008.

 

CORRESPONDENCE: Letter from Senator Seward was read – regarding resolution adopted and mailed to him concerning support of Collateral Source Legislation.

 

OLD BUSINESS: Councilman Keeler reported on the possible garbage day for October 2008.

 Spoke with Wheelock’s – cost $155.00 per dumpsters (4)

 People will drive up – drop & go

 Will start developing permits

 Steel & tin will keep and should off set cost of dumpsters

 Cost of tires is what it will cost us to dispose of them

Possible 1st week in October.

 

NEW BUSINESS: Will seek prices on a new bush hog.  Aaron asked if $2,500 - #3,000 could he purchase?

 

INPUT:  The Board received input from those attending. Regarding the question of where trash day permits would be available – at the Town Clerk’s Office.

 

A motion was made by Councilman Keeler, seconded by Councilman Lynch, to adjourn.  The meeting was adjourned at P.M.
