REGULAR TOWN BOARD MEETING

MARCH 12, 2009

 

The Town of Columbia Town Board held a regular monthly meeting March 12, 2009, at the town building.

   

MEMBERS PRESENT: Supervisor Weiss, Councilmen Buddle, Keeler,                           Lynch, and Teletnick.

 

MEMBERS ABSENT: None

 

OTHERS PRESENT: Pat Woytowich, Clerk; Highway Supt., Aaron                  Smithson; John Murtha, Planning Board Chr.;                 5 residents of the town

 

Supervisor Weiss called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.

Pledge of Allegiance led by John Murtha

A motion was made by Councilman Buddle, seconded by Councilman Teletnick, to accept the minutes of February 12, 2008.

  VOTE:  All members voted aye.

 

A motion was made by Councilman Teletnick, seconded by Councilman Keeler, to accept the Supervisor and Town Clerk monthly reports.

  VOTE:  All members voted aye.

 

BILLS:  The Board audited the monthly bills.  A motion was made by Councilman Keeler, seconded by Councilman Lynch, to accept the following bills:

General Fund, #36 - #51 for $ 3,993.76

Trust & Agency, #3 for $ 382.26

Petrie Brown, #2 for $ 703.84

Highway, Item 3, #17 - #27 for $ 8,187.22

Highway, Item 4, #19 - #24 for $ 12,768.06

  VOTE: All members voted aye.

 

DEPARTMENT REPORTS:

-HIGHWAY: Aaron reported that

•      New truck completed by Wayne’s Welding – Stadium is being contacted for delivery date

•      Grader, gradall, broom, chipper, and backhoe will be brought into the garage to be serviced

•      Spring work will consist of sweeping roads, raking and rock removal from fields due to pushing back of snow.

•      Ditch work to be done on Beebe, Jones, Saxon, Saragin and Dugan Roads.

•      Shoulder work to be done on all roads

•      CHIPS - repair Sarafin Rd., chip seal Hayner Rd., possibly cold pave Purdy Rd.  Waiting on County to complete McKoons before deciding on additional road work

•      Would like to discuss with Supervisor and board regarding the possibility of redoing back parking lot – would contact Soil & Water for their recommendations on drainage

 

-PLANNING / ZONING BOARD, GRANTS: John Murtha reported that

•      Planning Board has no land use issues addressed.  Comprehensive Plan was printed and distributed.

•      Zoning Commission – continuing to revirew/discuss current zoning law – about Ό through law.

•      Expects to meet with the county regarding FEMA

•      Preparing data in response to NY Power Authority questionnaire.

•      Working on salt building grant and truck radios

•      Attended seminar on flood plane.

 

CORRESPONDENCE: Annual report from HCS&WC District

 

BOARD DISCUSSION:

•      Trash Day May 2nd

•      Will be putting together a newsletter – e-mail articles to Town Clerk

INPUT:  The Board received input from those attending.

 

A motion was made by Councilman Keeler, seconded by Councilman Teletnick, to adjourn.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 P.M.
