REGULAR TOWN BOARD MEETING

    FEBRUARY 12, 2009      

 

The Town of Columbia Town Board held a regular monthly meeting February 12, 2009, at the town building.

   

MEMBERS PRESENT: Supervisor Weiss, Councilmen Buddle, Keeler,                               Lynch,and Teletnick.

 

MEMBERS ABSENT: None

 

OTHERS PRESENT: Pat Woytowich, Clerk; Highway Supt., Aaron                  Smithson; John Murtha, Planning Board Chr.;                 Bernie Peplinski, County Legislator, Dist. #2;

                1 resident of the town

 

Supervisor Weiss called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M.

Pledge of Allegiance

A motion was made by Councilman Teletnick, seconded by Councilman Lynch, to accept the minutes of January 8, 2009.

  VOTE:  All members voted aye.

 

A motion was made by Councilman Keeler, seconded by Councilman Teletnick, to accept the Supervisor and Town Clerk monthly reports.

  VOTE:  All members voted aye.

 

BILLS:  The Board audited the monthly bills.  A motion was made by Councilman Teletnick, seconded by Councilman Keeler, to accept the following bills:

General Fund, #18 - #35 for $ 5,926.35

Trust & Agency, # 2 for $382.26

Highway, Item 3, # 8 - # 16 for $ 7,317.36

Highway, Item 4, # 9 - # 18 for $ 26,074.42

 

  VOTE: All members voted aye.

 

 

DEPARTMENT REPORTS:

-HIGHWAY: Aaron reported

•   The new truck is at Wayne’s Welding

•   Performing routine maintenance on equipment

•   This past week first time all winter that haven’t had to plow

•   Met with John Murtha regarding grant options

 

-PLANNING / ZONING / GRANTS: John Murtha reported

•   Spoke with Aaron regarding sharing trucks with neighboring towns – not feasible as when there is a storm both towns would need the truck at the same  time

•   Discussed possibility of sharing other equipment

•   Salt shed discussed

•   Energy efficiency in building

•   FEMA – meeting with Mr. Vanderwalker, Towns of Winfield, Litchfield, Columbia

•   Zoning commission did not have a quorum at last meeting

 

 

CORRESPONDENCE: Letter from Herkimer County Soil & Water Conservation District was read – requesting donation for 2009 Envirothon.  Board agreed to have a voucher for $100 submitted at next meeting.

 

INPUT:  The Board received input from those attending.

 

Next meeting March 12th.

 

A motion was made by Councilman Keeler, seconded by Councilman Lynch, to adjourn.  The meeting was adjourned at 8:32 P.M.
